The First Concert In Overture Hall Tonight!

After 2 1/2 years of working on this project - I'm an architect during my day job - the very first concert in Madison, Wisconsin's state-of-the-art performance venue, Overture Hall is tonight! Phase 1 is officially done. I am very excited. This will be a special concert for everyone who worked on the project, all the architects, the construction crew, the suppliers, you name it. Over 2000 will hear the inaugural notes performed by the Madison Symphony. Unfortunately they gave it the trite name of the "Dream Team Tribute Concert". The music will be great.

Next weekend, the 18th, is the grand opening night gala! What follows is a week long series of concerts and performances, most free.

Update: 9/13/04
The evening was wonderful. The Madison Symphony played and have never sounded better. Wow, after nearly 3 years of my life spent on that project the first half is finally open. It is beautiful. Beautiful. It is really rewarding to hear the construction workers, suppliers, everyone is so proud to be a part of it. But the best is talking to the people who actually will work and use it. They feel like they've died and gone to heaven. They never dreamed that in Madison, WI, we'd have a state of the art facility. I wish everyone reacted that way to a building I worked on.
