Shawn Klush

What inspired you to become an Elvis Presley tribute artist?
It chose me. I didn't choose it. My dad was a DJ back in the '50s. and he had every album in the world. Elvis' music was the first music I ever heard when I was a kid.
When did you get started?
I was 3 or 4 years old.
Did you have the jumpsuit even back then?
Yeah. My folks made me one. ...
Do you ever find that people are stealing your moves?
Yeah, I find that quite a bit. You see some people in the audience that come to your show and see what you do and then incorporate it into their own show and make it theirs. It's a little frustrating.
So one might argue there are some Shawn Klush impersonators out there?
Yeah. It's just funny how that sounds, but yeah. ...
What is the groupie scene like on the Elvis tribute circuit?
You mean the sideburn chasers? They're pretty cool.
Do they ever cross the line?
You'll get some that will try to find out what hotel you're at and stuff like that. But I usually go under different names at hotels anyway.
What names do you go by?
Exactly.

Actually, I know a number of ETA's who have studied Shawn Klush's DVD's and come to watch his performances and who DO use his moves. We all (including Shawn) know they should study Elvis, as Shawn does, but Shawn is so authentic that there are ETA's who study him and learn from him. You'd be surprised to learn who!
