Bring me the head of Jackson Pollock

My wife and I were wandering downtown Madison on our anniversary when we went into a new store on State Street called Pop Deluxe! It's just my kind of store, lots of tiki mugs, tin robots, bobbleheads, you get the idea. In one corner they have an old cigarette vending machine that dispenses original art for $5.

What a great idea. First, it takes a cigarette machine out of circulation. Then, it gets original art out to a welcome public at a very impulsive price. They had everything from sculpture to photgraphy to jewelry.

I had to do it and received a small carved face by M. Leavitt, about 3/4" square, on a plexiglass card which is supposed to resemble Jackson Pollock, the abstract artist. (I was surprised to find out how many people I work with that don't know who Jackson Pollock is.) It comes in a cigarette sized box, of course. Nice. It's on my wall here at work now.

Check out their website, Art o Mat. They're always looking for new artists.

This art o matic looks intriguing. I'll have to think up something and submit it. Don't ask me about it ever tho - I'll tell you if I do it. I don't think I could handle the pressure. hee hee
