'Bubba Ho-Tep' sequel likely
"Authentically wacky, and poignantly funny."
Actually the most bizarre thing about this flick - yes, there’s more - is that it just happens to be the best, most entertaining and most human film released this week. Amazing really.
Edinburgh Evening News Online
A highly peculiar and very engaging blend of schlock horror, comic character study and – er – Elvis devotional.
Yes, they're all talking about "Bubba Ho-Teo", the most original Elvis movie to come out in years. Already out on DVD in the USA (yes, I have it and love it!), it is now hitting the theaters in the UK. Ans as you can read from the above, the reviews are good.
If you haven't seen it, do. Bruce Campell plays the aging King living out the last of his days in a nursing home. You see, he never died, he switched places with an Elvis impersonator many years ago. It was the impersonator that died at Graceland. To make things interesting Ossie Davis plays JFK, yes, President Kennedy, who didn't die in Texas. Then to make things really interesting, there is an ancient Egyptian mummy stealing the souls of the other residents. Elvis and JFK join forces to do battle and save the day.
Now let it be revealed that a sequel may be in the works.
Director Don Coscarelli told Yahoo Movies that the film's star Bruce Campbell could soon be back for another adventure. He said, "Things are looking quite good. MGM was very happy with the results in the States, the UK's looking very solid, there's a lot of fan interest in it - and Bruce would love to play some more of the old hound dog!"
